Coins & Antiquities
From Ancient Times to AD 1800
Publisher: Greenlight Publishing

Stop Press
Greenlight have ceased publication of Coins & Antiquities as from September 1999.
In our view this was a great pity, because we felt it was a high quality magazine, which deserved success.

Coins & Antiquities is a high quality new monthly magazine, its first edition was November 1998. It is aimed at serious collectors, dealers, academics, archaeologists, and anyone interested in coins and antiques for their history.
It is the first British magazine, in fact the only such magazine in the world, aimed at this audience. When we first saw its pre-publication edition, we thought it was a bold venture to attempt a high quality magazine targetted excusively at older coins and artefacts. I must admit to also thinking its cover price was slightly expensive. Having now seen several months issues, we are pleased to see that it is consistently producing good quality and interesting articles on many varied topics. Having compared its price with that of other magazines, I also believe it represents good value, and hope that it continues for many years its valuable contribution to the world of older coins and history.

In every issue we have found useful information, and learnt something new from a number of its articles. It is written very skilfully in plain English so that it is easy for the complete novice to understand, but it has not been "dumbed down", so it should also be of interest and enlightenment to even the most academic and knowledgeable of experts.

The magazine is produced on high quality paper, and contains a high proportion of colour pages. Each month there are articles, news, book reviews, saleroom news and previews, diary of events, and a delear listing. It features adverts from a good selection of more specialised dealers. Although it is, as we said, a new magazine, its publisher has been in numismatic publishing for about 35 years to my knowledge, and its contributors are also well qualified. By deliberately omitting from its target audience those "collectors" who only buy new coins, shrink-wrapped and ready packaged, C. & A. has ensured that its interest and relevance for the serious collector and history student does not become diluted by highly marketed modern junk issues.

If you are a serious collector, then a regular order or a subscription is a must!
A subscription would also make an excellent gift.

Good value at 3.50 ($6.00) monthly, with various subscription options.
